Farmers Arms

Farmers Arms is said to be one of the oldest pubs in Lake District almost going back to 14th century. It is serving as a Inn and pub with great food and athmosphere.

After our run and hike attempt to Scafell Pike and Great Gable with James Kenyon (Manager of Castleberg Outdoors), we had soaked from the heavy rain and started searching for good food on the way back to Settle.

Luckily, we have found this pub on our way. The signpost stating “Probably the oldest pub in Cumbria” took our attantion and we dived in.

The pub has a front enterance near the road and also a big parking area on the back. You can either use the pub`s door or the Inn`s door on the right.

Cosy athmosphere with smiling stuff. Couple of good Ale types and also Lagers. You firstshould head to the bar and the bartender will make you seated. But before he would be handing you your pints to welcome you, which is great.

The menu is a traditional pub menu. Of course Sunday Roast is a deafult because of the day we arrive. Pork, beef and lamb choices of roast are available.

Apart from that you have a great choice of menu. Burgers, steaks, fish, pies and huge desert meu is available for your appetite.

Inside the pub, there are a lot of wooden clasic furnitures. The enterance of the inn is cozy you can sit by the fire place and have daily newspapers and read along while enjoying your beer or wine.

We chose burgers + pork ribs. The burgers are huge with double meat slices, chips and salad on the side. And you know what, it costs only 7.95 ? I wish i would be living around here rether than London 🙂 Rib sauce is incredible and coke also comes in pint as well 🙂
